Why is this important?

According to a 2020 study published by Girls Leadership, Black and Latinx girls have the power to lead and be influential decision-makers in our society. Across income levels, Black and Latinx girls are the high scorers of leadership, in fact Black girls are most likely to identify as leaders on the Roets Leadership scale by 48% compared to girls of other races and ethnicities. However, within school and society 46% of black girls, and 26% of Latinx girls witnessed racial bias towards other girls of color and explicitly name it as an obstacle to their own leadership aspirations. Black and Latinx girls’ definitions of leadership and interest in being leaders stem from observing others in the positions of leadership (I.e. teachers, mentors, etc.)! They are more likely to score high on the leadership scale when their school has more teachers of color. We simply must push back against and dismantle the internal and external barriers that prevent Black and Latinx girls from fully activating their leadership potential by spreading awareness, creating a positive ecosystem of mentors, and providing leadership development.

TrueRose Inc. bridges the gap between Black and Latinx women and the tools and inspiration needed to be entrepreneurs, organizational leaders, and/or successful students. TrueRose does this by ensuring students acquire and maintain healthy goals, mental & emotional health, and a positive ecosystem of mentors using the following methods:
